We finally ordered fabric to make new curtains for our lounge!
I saw this today and it was on sale! Isn't it lovely?
It goes perfect with everything, especially the string shelves.

ELVIRA
If it's raining this weekend and you're bored to death,
then I got a movie to recommend to you.
The cheesy but oh so wonderful 1980's cult movie -
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
Download it, rent it, borrow it, buy it, whatever you
do, see it!
Doesn't Elvira's bikini top look just like one of
my 1940's style tops I made earlier this summer?

THE BLOUSE
I don't think I've posted a picture of this slightly
transparent blouse with red polka dots and red
heart shaped buttons I finished a while back.
I made it from a pattern dated 1950.
I actually started back in 2006 but found it again
earlier this summer in a trunk and decided that it
was about darn time I finished it.
Click the image for larger version.
And now over to my music recommendation for
this rather gray evening...
Not many know that I love Oasis and have done
so since 1994. (Shit, now I feel old.)
I haven't heard anything for a long time, I don't
really have the time to follow up on records,
but my heard skipped a beat yesterday when I saw
their video "The Importance of Being Idle".

PINUP AFFORDABLE
Well, it's more a brag to be honest. *smirk*
Went out to post some packages this morning and
ended up with some finds.
I found a pair of 1940's style wedges and a pair of
pinupish shape-panties today.
£3.
£2.
I almost forgot...
We went to a car boot sale yesterday since it was a
bank holiday here in England.
I found some stuff but I can't be bothered to post
pictures, this one is an exception.
I've wanted a lip-phone since the 1980's but my dear
parents gave me a Garfield phone instead...
Yesterday I found one and I got so nostalgic, my man
got it for me for £1.
I looked in Miller's Collectors Guide when we came
home and the collectors value is an estimated £50.
Not bad.
It's now a beloved item on my nightstand.

HAD ENOUGH YET?
Yes, another car boot sale yesterday.
Found our second ice bucket in shape of a pineapple.
We payed 24 pence for our first one and our second
one we got yesterday we payed 50 pence for.
You're lucky if you can get one for £20 on eBay.
I got 3 pairs of gloves for 65 pence for each pair but
the two other pairs didn't turn out so very good on
picture as the beige ones.
All I can say is they they are 1950's evening gloves,
one pair is dark brown and the other pair is black.
Currency: £1 = 12 Kr, €1.20, $1.80.
Ice bucket, 50 pence.
Gloves, 65 pence.
Necklaces, 35 pence each.
Plate, 20 pence.
Flamenco doll, 20 pence.
I don't have to tell you that all my finds are from the
1950's - 1960's now do I?

YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT...
I'm so sore and so tired.
I've been sewing all morning and did a new sitting at
the tattooist this afternoon.
My plan for tonight, if I wasn't too tired, was to put
up some new goodies on Tradera.
I don't wanna sound too cocky but I know for a fact
that some of you will really like my recent creations.
Oh well, guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow...
I got myself this awesome t-shirt for only £8 today,
it's so sweet and it reminds me a bit of Kool Aid.

HARD AS NAILS
We didn't finish the entire tattoo today, he had only booked me
up for two hours so I'm going back for more ink on Friday.
The tattooist thought I was hard as nails, a really good sitter.
I had a lot of practice over the years, my longest sitting was
8 hours.
I've been offered a job.
All I can say is that it's a webzine who is highly uncensored
and in your face, much like the magazine VICE.
My journalist skills are limited to a certain tattoo magazine,
the school paper and blogging for years here and there.
This zine insist and I don't think I can say no.
I only live once and I want to accomplish as much as possible
as long as it's creative.
Here's a spread about Kat Von D I wrote back in 2006,
I also translated an article about the Finnish tattooist,
Jarno Kantanen, in the same issue.
Click the images for a larger version.
Sorry, Swedish only.

RASCAL - THE TATTOOED LADY
In about 2 hours I will become even more colorful!
I'm finally gonna finish my Phecock (my bird looks like a
cross between a Peacock and a Phoenix).
When I got my first tattoo at the age of 16 my dad went
crazy and said that it's only bums, prostitutes and sailors
who got tattoos. OK, so I guess I'm a sailor then! *smirk*
What my dad and many others like him doesn't realize is
that collectors of tattoos often see them as an art form.
Some hang their art on the wall, I chose to wear mine.
My maternal grandfather was a sailor and he had a huge
ship in one of his arms and a sunset on his wrist and ever
since I can remember I wanted to have tattoos like his.
And now I can't get enough...
Tattooed ladies isn't a new thing.
Just look at Artoria Gibbons, she was one of the most
popular tattooed ladies (there's several of them actually)
who had her entire body tattooed.
The artist of her tattoos was her husband, Red Gibbons.
Thought:
Could the song "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" from the
Marx Brothers movie "At the Circus" been a tribute to
Artoria?

ROCKABILLY TART
I plan to look kinda like this tonight.
Like a rockabilly tart in leopard printed pedal pushers,
a black petal bust top and really high heels.
We're going to see Pete Hutton & The Beyonders and
Paul Ansell's No 9 at Boston Arms in London.
We're on the guest list, as per usual.

NEW FINDS!
Woke up waaay too early this morning.
The weather was OK, no rain that is, so we went to
a local car boot sale where we found some cool bits.
My favorite find of the day must be the set of glasses
with the deer.
I actually saw them in an antique shop when we were
in Stockholm, where they cost a small fortune each.
Click the pictures for a larger view.
Snap fasteners, 50 pence.
Lot of cute glasses, 60 pence.
Novelty plate, 20 pence.
Glass bowl, 40 pence.
Shaker, 50 pence.
Popeye poster, 50 pence.
Flamenco doll, 50 pence.
Rhinestone necklace, 75 pence.
As usual, everything is vintage, except the poster.

JUST A PERFECT DAY
Today was an really awesome day!
Me and my man went to Hitchin to visit the Friday market
where they sell everything from antiques to fruit and veg.
I immediately spotted this nightstand and we ended up
buying it for only £3!!!
We also visited a friend who helped me sell my old flying
jacket, I got £40 and I gave half of the money to my man
because he really deserves it.
Afterwards we went to a charity shop where they had a
handbag sale going on and I found six 1950's-1960's
handbags for only 50 pence each!!!
(I will post pictures when I decided which ones I want to
keep for myself.)
I also found some big beautiful red flowers in another
shop that's gonna end up as hair-flowers tomorrow,
unless the weather is nice and we're going to a car
boot sale or two.

REVAMPED TRAY
I've revamped this tray today.
We got it at a local car boot sale last month for 50 pence.
It was way too granny for me and in a bit of a state but I
sensed that I could make something out of it.
My man was helpful and stripped the white paint of the
glass for me and I did the rest.
I know, Bettie Page, again...
I've been off her for a while, everything has been Bettie
this and Bettie that since I was 11 years old and I guess I
got a bit tired of her, but she has now made a comeback.

ANOTHER REVAMPED BAG
I've been busy revamping a bag today.
I found it at a car boot sale a couple of weeks ago and my
man insisted on haggle the price down to a cool £1.25.
He knows how much I love cigar box purses and bamboo
handles.
The old motif was terrible ugly but I knew that I could do
something really cool with it.
I'm very happy with the result and so are my man.
