FASCINATORS AND SUCH

September has been a very creative month for me
and I've enjoyed every second of it.

Here's a few things I made the other day...

OK, so do I sound like a complete douche if I say
I looove this little hat?
The glittery lilies I got over 10 years ago and used
them as a brooch once at a rockabilly ball but ever
since the day after they pretty much collected dust.
The feather thing was a gift from a friend eight years
ago, (I remember because I still lived in Stockholm.)
it's old and just been laying around in one of my craft
boxes waiting for a purpose!

I used three different shades of green in this hat and
I think it works great!

The black pom poms in the veiling was a must. :)

Hair flower in juicy colors.
I found the flowers at a flea market in Sweden this
summer.

I know you already seen the acorn fascinator but I just
wanted to show it with the matching brooch I made.

The flowers are nice old millinery flowers I found at a
flea market years ago.

TODAY'S FINDS

I went into town earlier today to post a load of packages.
I also scouted the local charity shops afterwards, I haven’t
been rummaging for so long so it was a real treat indeed.
Here's what I got:
   

Found this beautiful old hat with flowers painted on it for £3.
(Approx $4.60 or €3.50)

And this is my favorite find in quite a while, a stunning cherry
Cool-Aid colored Bakelite bangle for 99 pence!!!
(Approx $1.50 or €1.15)

So perfect!

AWESOMENESS

My man and I had our 6 1/2 year anniversary yesterday.
I got a stunning bouquet of colorful flowers and I made
him a Carmen Miranda-esque decoration for his red hat.
He's gonna wear the hat tonight and I'm gonna let you in
on some cool news and why he's gonna wear it.

Before we left for Spain me and my man was invited to
Sue Kreitzman’s little art exhibition that takes place in
East London tonight. My man is gonna have a one man
jam on his double bass and I'm just gonna look cute.
Like that wasn't cool and awesome enough, yesterday my
man got a message from Sue inviting us to her home after
the event!!!
I’ve only seen pictures and clips of her amazing home on 
YouTube and now I’m gonna see it all with my own eyes!
I love everything that she does, she's my idol and I’m SO
honored to be invited.
I can't wait! I'm charging my camera battery and emtying
the memory card as we speak!

HEY DOLLFACE!

I'm so excited to show you my latest fascinators!
I'm very happy with the result and they were a lot
of fun to make!
These are from the red collection and I'm working
on more fascinators in pink and black.
Copyright is pending, I'm sick of people stealing my
designs.

THE FRIDA KAHLO FASCINATOR

Made this Frida Kahlo inspired fascinator last week!
I started working on this a year ago and I forgot about
it and then I tried to find the right stuff to put on it and
then I forgot about it and last week I found it again and
knew exactly what I wanted to put on it!
I'm VERY happy with this one, it's a keeper, I got tons
of compliments at the antique market last Friday.

GOING PLACES, FINDING STUFF

Early on Friday morning we went to the antique market
in Hitchin to have a little scout.
We met many of the people we used to speak to daily
when we were running the V&R shop, they all said they
miss having us around, very nice to hear.
We also went to all the charity shops, even to the one we
used to run and it looked so awful!
It's all gone downhill since we left, that means we must
have done an amazing job.

After our visit to Hitchin we went to Letchworth to pick
up my tooled vanity case at The Shoe Box.
We went there the week before to get a new clasp for it.
The leather guy is the best, he's done new clasps for my
vintage bags before, he’s SO pedantic and really knows
what he's doing.
He was not at all pleased that you can see the small holes
from where the previous clasp was placed after attaching
the new one.
The small holes are not at all an issue and I had to reassure
him that it was alright.
My eyes don’t even go there because I can’t stop admiring
the peacock on the lid!

New clasp and labor cost me £10. Well worth it!

And here's some stuff we picked up during the day:

Bangles, dark pink 80 pence, pale pink moon glow 20 pence.
I just sorted my bangle box the day before and then I found these. :))
It's good to change the collection every now and then and I kind of
needed some nice pink ones.

Vintage glitter hair combs, 50 pence for the lot.
How could I resist? ;))

1940's hat, £1.
I would love to show this one on but it has got a fold that I'm
trying to get rid off before I can wear it.

Old straw dispenser, £2.
I got a red one already but that's a modern one, rater have one that's 
old and have nicer shape.

And while we're at it, here's just a few things I got from the
car boot sale we went to on Saturday...

Vintage clutch, 50 pence.
I sorted through my collection of clutch bags the other day and since 
I didn't have one in this style and material I kept it for myself.

Vintage lemonade set, 50 pence.
I hope the summer will arrives soon so we can use this!!!

Vintage souvenir bag, £1.
I've had a few souvenir bags over the years but I never kept them, 
this one I will keep because it's quite an unusual shape and I love 
the flowers on the front.

And here's another vintage souvenir bag I got yesterday!
A charity shop in Finchley had a 50% sale on some bags
and this was one of them, I snagged it for £2!

FINDS, FINDS FINDS!

WOW! Guess who finally had time and peace of mind
to blog about some recent and not so recent finds.
I haven't done this in a while so therefore plenty of pics.
I will try and post my latest clothing finds soon too!

This bunch are from the Friday antique market and a
few local charity shops.

Trinket boxes 10 pence and 75 pence.
I'm always in need of cute trinket boxes, I got no more room on
my vanity nowadays so I have to drill up a shelf this weekend.


Old doll, 25 pence.
She looks so 1930's in her cute little outfit! :)
I'm on the hunt for another shadow box to put her in.


Bangles, 50 pence each.
I'm a bangleholic, I just can't say no, there's always an
outfit that requires at least one of these. :))


1960's jewellery box, £3.99.
A bit more than I usually spend but this one was roomy
and the brocade sure hit the spot!


Old Bambi vase, £1.
He had a glued leg but who cares, he's SO cute!


A bunch of 1950's plastic tulips, 25 pence.
Something else I already got plenty of but not in this color.
Hey, nothing says spring as well as tulips, plastic or not.


Old hat, £3.
I should give this one a good clean and change the ribbon, I'm not
so keen on the mustard color to be honest. Love the berries tho!

I can't resist stuff in their original box!
This set looks like it's never been used.


Pyrex Gaiety Snowflake dishes, £1 for the set.
I do need a lid for the round one, might find one at work.


JAJ Pyrex June Rose dishes, £1.75 for the set.
It's so frustrating when they don't come with a lid but for that price
I'm not just gonna leave them for someone else to snag. :P


Vintage tins, £5 for the set.
A must for my hobby room!

I were thinking "future kid's room" for some reason...


Vintage repro ashtray, 25 pence.
These were a copy of the 1950's atomic ashtrays and they were
reproduced in the 1980's.


1950's jug/vase, £3.
Me and my fella love music themed stuff and I got this as a
Valentines gift for us. Might sound dumb but so be it. :))


1950's glasses, £1 for the set.
I can't count how many times I said "no more glasses" but I never
really listen to myself when I see something nice like these.
