The good thing with being an adult and not very religious,
you can have breakfast for Rosh Hashanah dinner! LOL!
It’s all vegetarian, no pork in this house!!!

RANSOM

So I wished for Bakelite as a ransom for the Afikoman on
Seder night. And Bakelite I got! Apple juice Bakelite with
glitter set on a stunning silver belt buckle.
Purchased in secret in Prague.
Not sure I want to keep it as a belt buckle (because it is
slightly incomplete) I’m thinking about maybe revamping
it into a pair of earrings. What do you think?

CELEBRATE

Me and my man like to celebrate the little things.
Name days, monthiversaries (yes, still after nearly
6 years together) or when something really good
have happened.

The 14th was my name day, Mr. Handsome did
actually remember (I didn't!) and he gave me tons
of fresh cut flowers (all 4 bunches in the picture)
and also a nice green set of earrings and a bangle.

I asked him what he wanted for his name day and
all he could think of was sex and cake. :))
Men.

And since I'm writing about celebrations I would like to
say L’shanah tovah!
It’s Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year.

FINDS FOR THE FUTURE

This year while we were in Holland and Sweden we didn't
go madly overboard with flea market shopping, at least not
when it comes to small things.
Since we're planning on trying for a baby later this year and
we're SO going against Jewish tradition (i.e preparing for a
baby in advance might "tempt the Evil Eye") I did look out
for cute kids (preferably vintage) things and I didn't end up
empty handed.
Here's what I found.

Vintage crayon tub, 10 kr
Birdie, 1 kr
Vintage baby eating set, 10 kr

Vintage kids books, 10 kr each for the big ones
1 kr each for the small ones

Vintage Halma game, 1 euro
Vintage number memory game, 5 kr
Vintage mini puzzle, 2 kr

My paranoid mother in law is going crazy over our baby
purchases but my philosophy is that if it's meant to be it
will be, and to be honest, who have the time and energy
to go scouting for cute vintage baby stuff AFTER giving
birth, come on!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Happy holidays dear readers and friends!

I've been so awfully busy at work that I haven't even
had the time to make our home nice for Hanukkah or
blog about our 5th anniversary and my recent finds.
We got a few days off now so I will be updating you all
what I've been up to, promise.

Now I'm gonna go downstairs, have brunch alone and
then make some Caribbean toffee and then finish tidy
and clean this mess of a house.





Yesterday on our way home I asked my man to stop by our
local Wilkinsons because I wanted a few Hyacinths on the
table for when we're having guests over tomorrow.
(We're gonna eat Swedish X-mas food but all vegetarian and
celebrate Hanukkah with our friends Ruth and Pat.)
I didn't find any but I did end up leaving the store with a red
"Hanukkah bush" for £5. ;))
I have some really nice X-mas ornaments from the 1950's and
1960's that just lay in a box and I wanted to make an effort for
our guests and to get some holiday spirit for once.
Later on my man went to ASDA to buy groceries so I asked
him to pick up some gold glitter but they were all out so he
asked the manager if it was okay to take some of the glitter
from the shop decor and he said it was fine since they were
gonna take it down and bin it later in the evening anyway.
Frugal and environmentally friendly. ;)
It does look like some kind of burning bush with the red and
the gold.
My man said it's his first ever, I myself gave up X-mas 15
years ago but I kind of miss it some times because it does
remind me of my late grandma who I adore.

Hi and hello!
How's your Easter weekend been?
I've been bargain hunting as usual.
It's been really warm and sunny so we'd been relaxing
in the garden, soaking in the sun as much as possible.

Today we had another BBQ, since it's Passover I don't
eat bread with yeast so no burger or hot dog buns but
it was still very nice.
I need to cut down on carbs anyway. :P

It was a little bit too breezy for me today so I decided
to craft my day away in bed and watching housewife
drama. I'll show you tomorrow what I made.

So here's some of my finds from yesterday and today.

I absolutely love 50's/60's plastic flowers and these are pure perfection.
Some has the original tag left.
I wish there was another yellow rose...


1950's Stratton compact, £1.50.
LOVE this! Gift from my man.


Vintage red glittery earrings, £1.
Will go perfect with my red glitter bangle I got a while back.


Vintage hula girl, £1.
I was thrilled to find her!
I've been wanting one of these and had a few on my favorite list on
Etsy but I don't feel like paying $18 in shipping.
This girl needed a quick makeover so she got her hair combed and
a new elastic for her pretty yellow garland.


1950's kids rattle, 50 pence.
For the future rascal's.
I had one like this when I was little.


Lurex top, 50 pence.
More glam fall/winter wear.


1960's nylon top, £1.
Looks like it's never been used and it has got buttons in the back.


Handmade 1950's pants, 50 pence.
Love the pattern on these. They needed a new elastic waist band but
that was no drama, all done within minutes.


Vintage Hawaiian shirt, 50 pence.
Quite kitsch and my picky man liked it.


1950's thermos, 20 pence.
This one got two mugs, one is smaller and fits under the big one you
see in the picture, now how convenient is that. :)
Perfect for road trips.


Makeup bag set, 50 pence.
This is quite funny, and a bit embarrassing to admit, I wanted this set
for about two years but I've been too cheap to pay the full price of
£6.99 at Superdrug, which isn't very expensive to begin with.
Seems like patience paid off in the end. :))


1950's Italian flower pot, 50 pence.
And since Italian I let Mr. Basil live and thrive in it.

Yep, more wicker. Perfect for our kitschy lounge.

These still had the old tag left.
I'm gonna shorten these slightly, I look like Carmella
Soprano otherwise. :))

Love these colors, goes perfectly with the walls in my hobby
room as you can see.

SUNDAY

1950's ballerina bottle, £1.
Second "dancing bottle" we now got.

Perfect basic summer wear.

There's one more panel of the fabric on the left.
I can't decide what to to with these amazing fabrics, one
minute I'm thinking dress, the other I think playsuit.

YESTERDAY

Yesterday was the second day of Passover so we took the
day off from work and gym and cooking.
I was in a rather bad mood, a bit overtired and achy and
not really up for anything so my man decided to take me
out on a little vintage scout to cheer me up and "celebrate"
52 months together. Yes, he's that kind of guy. :)

Love these! I have a necklace I bought in Prague two years
ago that will match these perfectly.

PRETTY DARN PLEASED

Oy vey! I'm way behind on blog posts.
I've had some really awesome and very busy days
due to friends and mother in law staying over and
last night was Seder night with a lot of preparation
and cooking.
I'm gonna do my best and try and catch up. :)

I've been looking for a nice 1950's style wig for a while
but they are all so cheesy, this one looks very stylish on
and Dolly is happy with it as well. :)

Remember this ugly ass jacket I bought last week?
I've now revamped it into a bolero. I'm pretty darn
pleased with the result if I'm allowed to say so.
