DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN

Awful migraine day today, nothing at all has been done
around here. The house is a major mess... Uhh...
The shop (from hell) was dead today so my man came
home earlier and crawled into bed with me for a lil' nap
while I watched Desperately Seeking Susan.
DSS was one of my favorite movies as a kid and today
I got a bit sad that the 1980's is over and however hard
you try you can never get it as right as it was back then.
Yes, the 1950's is over as well but you can still get that
period right but the 1980's you just can't recreate.
I love crazy and over the top!

I also fell back in love with Susan's jacket and skull drum
case. Oh my, I got itchy fingers to try to make a replica
of at least one of them, maybe not now but hopefully in
the near future.
I bet there's a dark green lurex/lame' jacket with some
kick ass shoulder pads out there waiting for me; :))

The man behind this iconic jacket is Santo Loquasto and
Michael Roman is the artist who adorned Susan's drum
case and Jim's van with his skulls.


The phrase on the banner beneath the pyramid say's:

MOVIE NIGHT

Me and my man are about to crawl under the covers and
have a Tim Burton night tonight.
We're gonna start with my very favorite, Frankenweenie.
As a Bull Terrier lover it might be understandable why it's
my favorite. :)
I used to have the VHS but I watched it so many times so
the tape was useless even before the video broke down.
I haven't had the luck to find it on DVD yet so we're going
to watch it on You Tube.

THE MAGIC OF ORDINARY DAYS

I had a pretty good day at Goodwood Revival yesterday.
FORGOT TO BRING THE CAMERA!
Me and my man were jiving and made new friends and
I finally got to meet Fleur De Guerre, what a pretty lady!

It was hard to wake up this morning so I sipped my coffee
and flicked through the channels and ended up watching a
movie that I would like to recommend.
The Magic of Ordinary Days.
Set in 1944 Colorado The Magic of Ordinary Days is the
story of a young woman, Livy Dune, who became pregnant
before marriage with a WW2 solider.
Her father decided to deal with the situation, by arranging
a marriage to a shy farmer named Ray.
Livy is polite and civil to her new husband but she harbors
feelings for the father of the baby, and feelings of guilt for
the pregnancy.
Ray, however, is caring, patient, and supportive of Livy, but
the fact that she does not want him hurts him deeply.
Slowly over time the two come to understand and love each
other...

LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR

I'm gonna try not to be too nostalgic and sound like I'm
way older than I am but most of you were still in preschool
and might not have a clue what I'm on about.
Back in 1993 Swedish television aired the fantastic English
drama series Lipstick on Your Collar.

During the Suez Crisis of 1956, two young clerks at the
stuffy Foreign Office in Whitehall display little interest
in the decline of the British Empire.
To their eyes, it can hardly compete with girls, rock music
and the intrigue of romantic entanglements...

It's pretty funny that little ol' me ended up with a guy that
was an extra in several scenes in my favorite TV-series of
all times.
Yes, my guy is popping up every now and then the whole
series through, I could only find one episode on YouTube
that he's in.
In this one he's walking through the door right behind the
singer, 12 - 15 seconds into the clip below.

I recently found out that my childhood favorite
movie Tuppen is now released on DVD!
I'm gonna try and get it while I'm in Stockholm.
