NEW VINTAGE DRESSES

I treated myself to some cute vintage dresses and they arrived
all the way from Lithuania yesterday.
I thought I'd share...

£8 (approx. $12.70)
This Finnish dress is so amazing IRL!
Whoever said spots and stripes doesn't go together hasn't seen this dress!
It still got the original belt.

£7 (approx. $11.10)
This dress require a pair of Swedish Hasbeens! I love that this one
also have the original belt.

£11.50 (approx. $18.30)
I just adore this French kite dress, it's so feminine.

Closeup.

£15 (approx. $23.90)
The Pièce de résistance! A vintage authentic Dirndl!
I’ve been on a hunt for one for years but a lot of them have been way
overpriced or too fancy dress/costume for my liking.
I really love the color combination!
My parents had friends in Austria and I always got a new one every
year as a kid, I looked like a boy in a dress but I just loved them!

BACK HOME!

Hi there!
I've been away for a while.
Went to Screamin' Festival in Spain.
I had a good time until I got food poisoning during the
festival Saturday's evening event where I passed out
because of horrible stomach pains and puked all over
myself, ended up in an ambulance.
I felt so ashamed because people saw me do this and
might have thought I was a classless drunk twat.
(I didn't drink any alcohol at all that day.)
I missed all the bands I wanted to see that night and I
missed the last day of the festival. :(

Discovered that Rock n' Roll Holidays that we used
to go to back in the days was back after two years so
we had another half week of party.
We had a great time at the pool parties on the roof and
I rediscovered a song by Billy Fury that my dad used to
play when I was a kid that I loved.

Here's a few selfies and finds.

Had a pretty decent hair day on the festival Thursday.

Me and my man at the evening event on the festival Thursday.

Managed to get me a nice tan after the festival was over.

Me and my man at the pool party.

Found these beauties in our hidden gem in Calella.
It’s a little charity shop (goodwill) where we managed to
find some neat stuff over the years.
Got the peach 1960’s peignoir for €2 (= $2.65/£1.70) and
the black 1950’s dress for €5 (= $6.70/£4.25).

This carved Bakelite bangle arrived from Ireland while I was in Spain.
(Won this on eBay for £11.50 = approx $18.)

And these two marbled Bakelite bangles arrived from the Czech Republic.
My postman was SO NICE to hold them for me since they were too large
to deliver so they wouldn't be sent back.
(Won them on eBay, the green bangle was £12.70 = approx $20 and the
creamed corn bangle was £9.55 = approx $15.)

ANOTHER GOOD HAIR NIGHT

Happy Passover/Easter!
As you know I don't like having my photo taken but
my hair looked good last night so I thought I give you
another ego picture.

LAST NIGHT

My handsome man and your truly last night at the Si Cranstoun
gig in central London.
Rocking the bumper bangs at the moment since my hair is way
too long for curls and I refuse to cut it, I'm a mermaid at heart.
Flowers overload is a must since spring is nowhere to be seen.

YUM!

I'm a sucker for kitsch and when I saw these nail polish
bottles I was in 7th heaven!
Of course I got me some! I wanted the blue but that one
was out of stock so I only got the yellow and the pink.
I haven't tried them yet but I can't wait to do so!

OUR LOUNGE

This might be my last post here, might.
I've lost interest in this blog since blogger changed
and I joined the more user friendly tumblr.
I hardly have time to read the blogs I used to love
and therefore no one read and comment here so I
don't see the point, nowadays this old blog is mostly
useful for checking where we'd been and how much
this and that cost.

Anyway, I just wanted to post some pictures of our
newly rearranged and cleaned lounge.
It's a mix of everything we love, anything from tiki to
West German.
We still need to put some pictures on the wall and I
would love my fountain table and some other bits to
be on display but the lounge is long and narrow so I
can't put it all out at once, maybe next time.

NIGHTMARE ASIDE

I had one of those lazy days yesterday.
I didn't want to do anything, just lay in bed and watch
documentaries and feel good about finally have had a
proper shower.
We're having a nightmare with our bathroom, we were
just gonna have it re-tiled, this being England, of course
the tiler bailed on us and now we're taking legal action.
So, after not being able to shower for 13 days it was a
blessing to do so yesterday.

Nightmare aside, I wanted to cheer myself up with one
of those moon manicures and since I really can't wait to
be able to bask in the sun I put some sunshine onto my
nails. Think Miami Art Deco.

LATEST EBAY

Here's the first items to arrive this year!
(Except craft supplies, that is.)
I had that top on my watch list for a very long time
until they reduced the price.

I also had the shoes on the list for a while and I was
umming and arring over getting them because the last
thing I need is another pair of shoes!

Pink 1960's lurex top, £2.50.

Transparent wedges, £11.

SHINY

Here's another find from Prague.
It's a vintage lurex belt with an over sized buckle.
It cost 80 CZK (= £2.50 / $4.20) and was, as you
can see, in need of a good clean.
Luckily I got a tube of Simichrome laying around,
it's not just for testing Bakelite. ;))

A tiny (I do mean tiny) amount on a cotton pad and
off I went, seconds later it's all shiny and nice.

I got to wear it last night.
Here I am backstage at the Vintage NYE party at
Royal Festival Hall, London. (My man was playing.)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

IRON MAN

I'm sporting an Iron Man moon manicure today. :)
(They were nicer yesterday before housework.)

The red polish is Kanebo "NC02" (it's about 6 years old!) and the
dark gold polish is 17 Fast Finish "Fury" (from Boots).

NICE

Can't help but admire my latest moon manicure...

The turquoise polish is from Barry M "295" and the dark gold polish is
17 Fast Finish "Fury" both are from Boots.

CANDYFLOSS & SALSA

I’m not turning into a “look at my awesome nails”
kind of girl, this is just a novelty thing for me, it's
only my second and I won't pester you with tons
of posts about my future moon manicures. :)

This is from last night.
Candyfloss pink and metallic salsa.
(I hope to improve this!)

MOON MANICURE

I made my first moon manicure the other day and I
must say I'm pleased with the result.
I don't wear nail polish all the time since I glue a lot
but I'm having a little craft break right now and so I
thought I do something different.
I like this color combination, mint and bottle green.
I should get a bottle of base coat because I have a
feeling this whole thing will chip off.

PRETTIEST STITCHES

I'm prancing around the house in the prettiest summer
stitches I got in my entire closet.
A stunning two piece beach outfit I got from the lovely
Anna when we visited her when we were in Sweden in
mid July.
I'm having total and utter anxiety switching my wardrobe
from summer to winter. I hate it!
Let's hope we get a fab summer 2013!

SPARKLY

I already got a pair of gold lurex capri pants (well,
it’s actually a jumpsuit/high waisted capri’s) but I’ve
been on the lookout for a pair that’s even more gold
in color and sparkly to the max but sellers on eBay
and Etsy are really taking the mickey on the price
when it comes to vintage gold lurex capri’s so I gave
up looking.
(I rather spend $300 on something more useful.)

Lucky me there’s a great haberdashery shop in town.
Got this fabric last week and it was on sale and a few
minutes before I found a £5 note on the floor so they
were basically free! :D

It took me 2 hours (that’s including cutting, trying them
on and endless amount of times and refilling the spool
twice) and I must say I’m pretty darn pleased since I
did it freehand and it was 13 years ago (where did the
time go?) since I last made a pair of pants!

FIRST OUTFIT POST, EVER!

I really hate having my picture taken, therefore the
lack of outfit post, other blogs do it ever so often so
I don't feel like I have to. ;P
Also, this is not a fashion blog.

Anyway. These were taken yesterday.
(I will tell you more about this day as soon as I got
less work to do. There's SO many pictures!!!)
I know the full one is taken quite far away but still,
it's a full one. LOL!

NEW DRESSES

No matter how many dresses I already have and
how little space I got left I always manage to find
dresses I love. Here's the latest ones...

Click on the images for a larger view.

1950's wool and lurex dress, £3.
I managed to snag this one at a car boot sale.
I absolutely adore it!

1980's dress, £6.50.
This was a find from a charity shop and my lovely
man paid for it. :)
I feel like a sassy senorita in it and it looks fab with
my favorite shoes.

1970's dress, £1.
I found this in a pile of modern clothes at a car boot
sale and it's SO Jill! (Weeds season 8) Love it!
Looks perfect with my stretchy lurex belt.

1950's/1960's lurex dress, £6.
I found this one on eBay and I feel like a sin in it. :))

SO FRIGGIN' AWESOME!

Totally random thing I found in a local charity shop yesterday,
a gold lamé tail suit jacket for £2.50, so friggin’ awesome!
Now I’m just waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it,
perhaps a night at Madame Jojo's.

This jacket requires high heels, fishnet stockings, fringe bra,
high waisted tap shorts. Yeah! :D
