SUE'S BIRTHDAY BASH

Two weeks ago me and my little family went to our dear friend
Sue Kreitzman's birthday party.
In her honor I made this gold lurex outfit for Dixon.
She loved it and said it was her favorite birthday present. :D

I got myself a little present, the mermaid necklace around my
neck, made by Sue, of course.

Today's car boot sale was a bit thin of cool stuff I must say. 
I managed snag three pairs of vintage earrings  that I just love for a
total of £1 and eight baby/kids garments for £2.40 (that included 2
knitted sweaters from the 1950's) so I didn’t leave empty handed.

I don't know if tomorrow will happen, it all depends on the weater
during the night.
I have no idea why we're still going to car boot sales when we got
our house, the loft and the cabin full to the brim! LOL!

SATURDAY'S FINDS

On Saturday I was totally stressed out over the nasty
comments on tumblr.
I decided to get out and away from the computer for
a while to get my mind off things.
Since I'm alone and don't drive I decided to bite the
bullet and take the bus to a nearby car boot sale.
Of course it took so long to get there that most people
were packing up, I still managed to get a few things.
After the car boot sale I had to take the bus back into
town center and as I had to pick up a few craft bits I
had a scout in the charity shops and I found some more
things to drag home with me.
Amazing what a few bargains can do for a little vintage
hoarders mood.

I had that top on my watch list for a very long time
until they reduced the price.

I also had the shoes on the list for a while and I was
umming and arring over getting them because the last
thing I need is another pair of shoes!

NYE OUTFIT POST

Some of you might know that I really hate having my
picture taken, therefore the lack of outfit posts in this
blog of mine.
I thought I might as well show you what I was wearing
on NYE.

Here I am all glammed up for the Vintage NYE Party
at Royal Festival Hall.
My man was playing there that night so I had to go.

Bolero, 10 pence, car boot sale
Dress, £12, from a shop in Prague
Shoes, 50 pence, car boot sale
Jewelry, Coro, gift from my man

I had my hair down in the beginning of the evening
but the drummer insisted that I wear it up since it's
NYE and I'm wearing a party dress.

A few hair pins later...

My man and I at midnight watching the London fireworks,
quite amazing. Better than on TV.

Just before the third and last set.
We really match in our black lurex tops.

SHINY

Here's another find from Prague.
It's a vintage lurex belt with an over sized buckle.
It cost 80 CZK (= £2.50 / $4.20) and was, as you
can see, in need of a good clean.
Luckily I got a tube of Simichrome laying around,
it's not just for testing Bakelite. ;))

A tiny (I do mean tiny) amount on a cotton pad and
off I went, seconds later it's all shiny and nice. 

I got to wear it last night.
Here I am backstage at the Vintage NYE party at
Royal Festival Hall, London. (My man was playing.)

LATEST FINDS

Hi there!
Sorry for not being so active here, I find tumblr much
easier to deal with after blogger's awful "revamp".

Anyway. I've been a sad little girl with an enormous
homesickness and lack of real friends, so guess who
was more than thrilled to go to the antique market on
Friday and then meet up with my Canadians for some
gossip and coffee that makes you feel like you're on
drugs. (I hate Starbucks!)

First I scouted the market where I got a whole bunch
of vintage stuff for £4  = 1950's thermos, 1950's men's
robe, 5 old flower pots, a teal Phoenix dish with glass
lid and some plates for my big flower pots that I need
to take in over winter.

From another seller I got a pair of Carmen Miranda-esk
earrings that I've had on my wishlist for years but never
found a pair that was in good condition or cheap, mine
cost £3 and were in very good condition.

My best finds however came from the charity shops...

This was a gift from my man but I found it.

SPARKLY

I already got a pair of gold lurex capri pants (well,
it’s actually a jumpsuit/high waisted capri’s) but I’ve
been on the lookout for a pair that’s even more gold
in color and sparkly to the max but sellers on eBay
and Etsy are really taking the mickey on the price
when it comes to vintage gold lurex capri’s so I gave
up looking.
(I rather spend $300 on something more useful.)

Lucky me there’s a great haberdashery shop in town.
Got this fabric last week and it was on sale and a few
minutes before I found a £5 note on the floor so they
were basically free! :D

It took me 2 hours (that’s including cutting, trying them
on and endless amount of times and refilling the spool
twice) and I must say I’m pretty darn pleased since I
did it freehand and it was 13 years ago (where did the
time go?) since I last made a pair of pants!

LATEST REVAMP

I said the other day that I wanted something to revamp.

I had this dress listed on Etsy for 4 months but it didn’t
sell so I revamped it into a top.
Very easy but still a huge change, it’s actually useful to
me now.
I removed the ruffle on the sleeve and cut the skirt part
off and then hemmed it, not much else. :)

I plan to turn the skirt part in to a sexy pencil skirt, I just
need to get a white slip since it’s pretty sheer.

THRIFT-O-RAMA

Third day off, well off is not the right word, today is cleaning
and laundry day. Also have a few things I want to list in my
Etsy shop but the light is terrible so I doubt the photos will
come out right.

Miss Tallulah Porkchop said a few days ago: "I don't know
where you find the time to work between all the thrifting."

Well, since I work in a charity shop that specialize in vintage
and retro it does make it pretty easy.
We go to the antique market (that's located about 50 meter
from our shop) one hour before we open so we have time to
scout, both for ourselves and for the shop.
We also get to pull stuff from one of the other branches so I
often find stuff that I want to adopt.

Hi there! I'm bed bound today on my day off, worked a bit
too hard yesterday and every muscle in my body is aching.
No worries, I got my laptop and a whole bunch of craft to
fiddle with so I'm set. Need to rest up for the weekend, the
shop is manic on Fridays and Saturdays.

Some things I just can't resist, one of them is vintage lurex.
I didn't want to blog about this stunner before it arrived safely
to my house. It seems like everything I blog about beforehand
is getting lost in the mail. Jinxed?
Anyway, it arrived yesterday and it fits beautifully, I do wish I
was all better and had some awesome event to go to.
It's really a goddess dress!

LONG TIME NO SEE!

Good afternoon! It's been a while.
The reason for my absence is that I've been too ill to be
online and I've had nothing to really blog about.
My sweet man has dragged me out on two occasions to
Cambridge and Brighton. That cheered me up even tho
I wasn't well.

Nothing cheers me up like beautiful surroundings, old
buildings and vintage shopping, of course.

contest. I won a bunch of sweets, a Cath Kidston bag and
a copy of the magazine Vintagexplorer.

I'm looking forward to the package to arrive next week.
