SUMMER WARMTH

What a wonderful couple of days we'd had!
The sun is shining, it's summer warmth and the new
studio is almost finished.
I got a lot to clean before we can move the stuff back
in, almost everything we stored in the old studio has
mold on it so I need to wipe everything off with anti-
bacterial solution.

I do need a proper cup of coffee and a slice of banana
chocolate cake before I start. ;)

I'M LIKE NANA

Sorry if this post feels a bit random today, my mind
is a little messed up, I've been out in the sun all day
so that might be why. :))

Anyway, we're having a new studio built in our back
yard so everything is a complete mess right now and
I can't stand mess so just after the snail mail arrived
and the two chocolate banana cakes came out of the
oven me and my man escaped to Mill Hill to hang out
with our dear friend Jeff.
He lives with his old parents who he takes care of and
their home is like a museum, time stopped in the 60's
more or less.
Their little back garden is so cozy, everything is perfect,
flowers, trees, old pots with multicolored tulips and not
a single grass straw is longer than the other.
We sat in the sun for hours, just talking a lot of bull and
planning future projects.
After all this old people cuteness I started to think about
my maternal grandma, Greta, who I miss daily since she
left this earth back in 1996.
I realized that I becoming more and more like her and
I love it. I can't find a better role model even if I tried.

I buy the same kind of flower pots she used to have...


...and I've got green fingers just like her.


I even make my creamed macaroni exactly like she used to make
them. Creamy, peppery and sweet.
(The meatballs are meat free.)

MATCHY MATCHY

Me and my man are total nerds, we like to match our
outfits and we're both very keen on color coordinating.
And we love Hawaiian and pineapple print.

This is only our third perfect match outfit.
You've got to be pretty lucky to find matching items
nowadays, you can if you got the time and patience.
There's a saying: "All things come to he who waits".

This outfit was all planned, or so I thought.
I was gonna surprise my man so I won this shirt on
eBay a couple of weeks ago and at the same time I
had my eyes on a dress with the same print on Etsy,
sadly it was sold, I was only one day late.
I kicked myself and I felt like everything was ruined,
the dress had been for sale for months and relisted!
I did however find something even better just a few
days later that was more me and more suitable for
my body, this halterneck dress.
The seller was very friendly and helpful too and that
really made my day.

THE CLAM CLUTCH

I found this this wicker trinket box, dusty and neglected,
in a bargain bin last week on one of our vintage hunts.
I got the idea to revamp it into a cool clutch bag with just
a few easy steps...


Before. In need of a good clean.


Underside.


Start of by cleaning it with a brush and some soap.


Wicker is much easier to work with while wet so I
started to cut the stand off on the underside.


In progress...


Put an elastic band on the center edge and tie.
I always burn the ends of the elastic so the black
thread won't fray.


Add a paper fastener. This is the outside.


This is the inside.


Clasp finished and so is the project.


Let's disco!

Can be used with an Hawaiian or nautical outfit.

STOP AND SHOP

I went swimming today.
The gym was closed so I decided to go to the swimming
centre instead.
On my way home I stopped by a charity shop and I got
this...


Pinup style cardigan, £2.25.
I'm thinking about changing the faux mother of pearl buttons to some
vintage style rhinestone buttons instead.

I HEART MUSWELL HILL

Yesterday my man told me we're going for a road trip
and maybe some vintage scouting. Oh goodie!
Unfortunately he never told me where we were going
(I thought we'd go to the usual places) so I didn't bring
my camera. :(
This time we went to my very favorite area in London,
Muswell Hill.
If you're ever in London, make sure you go to Muswell
Hill and look at all the beautiful houses.
It's so beautiful and I wish every suburb around here
were as stunning as that place is.
Next time we go I will bring my camera and do a proper
visual guide post.

We walked around slowly in the sunshine, holding hands,
looking at the amazing window displays in delicatessen
shops and we saw a Challah shaped as a crocodile in one
of the bakeries. :D
And of course we had a rummage in all charity shops in
the area.

1960's beaded dress, £5.
This darling is gonna go through a major revamp when
I got some time to do it. My plan is to remove the sleeves
and make a top and a pencil skirt out of it.

I think I've must been quite lucky, it's hard nowadays to get
your hands on beaded dresses that cheap.

Today we were up early and decided after a proper cup of
coffee that we should go to a car boot sale.
I got a few things for the shop but these things I'm keeping
myself...

TREATS AND SNAIL MAIL

Woho! 200 followers! I guess that means I'm having a giveaway! :)
Gonna put a package together for next week and hopefully you'll
participate.

Busy day, again.
Been running errands all morning, had a walk, cleaned the front of
the kitchen cupboard doors and drawers, started to put stuff in our
new garden storage, mowed the lawn and trimmed edges, did two
loads of laundry and I'm about to vacuum the house.
There's a gig locally tonight but I'm not going. I'm staying home by
the sewing machine. I got way too many items on the to-do-pile and
I wanna do it while I got the urge.

Yesterday me and my man was bored out of our minds so we went
to St. Albans for lunch and vintage.
I found tons of stuff I wanted but my frugal spirit made me put all
of it back, I only treated myself to a skirt for £12, not just any skirt,
the hottest friggin' vintage pencil skirt I ever seen!
And it fits like a glove, tight but not too tight and it hugs the curves
perfectly. I felt like a true 1950's vamp in it. :D

1950's and wicker, can't get much better. :)


And I also got a letter from lovely Clare! :D
She's so sweet! She sent me a pair of earring cushions because my
earlobes were throbbing from the clip on earrings last weekend.
She also sent me a pair of plastic cherries to do something rock n'
roll with. Now that's a true friend. :)

Got this teal/turquoise lurex cardigan today, it was a find from one of the
charity shops in town, only £2.
