TWEET TWEET

Here's two brooches I made yesterday.
I found these cute little birdies in Holland and I knew
the second I saw them that they would be perfect as
brooches and couldn't wait to get home and craft.

What do you think?

ALL ON HIS OWN

My man has got the bargain bug pretty bad at the moment.
On Saturday he went to a local car boot sale all by himself.
The weather was pretty iffy but I told him to go so I could
get some peace and quiet for a few hours, (I said this in the
nicest of ways) and so he did.
I can't say anything but that I was very impressed with his
purchases and here's a few of them...

Bracelet, 30 pence.
Hawaiian style, what a keeper!

Vintage blanket, 50 pence.
Perfect for the bedroom this autumn.

Fabric, £1.
A whole lot of fabric I might add. I'm going to make
pillow cases for our big pillows in the bedroom.

Old LP, 20 pence.
I love kitschy LP covers so this one is most welcome in
my collection.

3 vintage bamboo plant stands, £1 for the lot.
YES!!! Love these, we now got a whole lot of bamboo plant
stands, wish we had a much bigger house so they all
could
be displayed in the same place.

Original 1940's Jell-O ad, £2.
My man though I would love this since the color is a perfect
match to the walls in my hobby room and
it's from my very
favorite decade, yes, I do love it.

1950's flower pot, 20 pence.
He knows me so well... I'm in a yellow and green state of
mind at the moment and this was much appreciated.

Mariachi duck, £1.
Meet Senor Lopez, that's his name his previous owner gave
him and it's for him to keep. He's way over 40 years
old and
he's a bit dirty but he's very welcome to hang out
with the
donkeys and flamenco dolls.

Me and my man love vintage Latin kitsch.

1960's mugs, £2.50.
I love old stuff still in original box. I'm keeping these for sure.

So, what do you think, did he do good? :D

SCHMATTA

This dress and I haven't been friends for many years...
I bought it on eBay 9 years ago from the owner of a well
known repro rockabilly clothing brand, this was from one
of her collections back then. I won't mention the brand
name, this scene is full of catty women as it is and I don't
need unnecessary drama.
Ever since this piece of schmatta arrived in my mailbox
I'd never purchased anything of this brand and won't do
in the future either.
I paid $33, back then I thought it was reasonable, since
it was pink, sassy and with cherry print on it. The seller
claimed it was in perfect condition too.
Reasonable and perfect turned out to be a real pain in the
buttocks.
I wasn't happy so I sent the seller and owner a message,
as you do, telling her in a nice way about all these flaws,
I even sent pictures. Instead of giving me a part refund
or even saying sorry she opened a can of verbal whop ass
on me! Maybe it's good that other people are selling stuff
for her, she's clearly not suited for retail.
As you can see in the pictures below she should have sold
this as a revamp project.
Because it turned out to be one...
After seeing it hanging there as an eye sore for 9 years I
finally decided to do something about this mess of a dress.
I had a go with the bobble off thingy I cut the top part off
and added an elastic band, stitched the seams and edges
into perfection and I got myself a sassy wiggle skirt.

In 9 years I've only wore it for like an hour at home.

OK, here's why I think this dress is schmatta...
(All except the last one are "before pictures".)

The stitching is the wrong way around!
And the hem is so uneven it's almost a laughing matter.
Were you drunk when you made this?!

Yeah...

The stitching is coming undone.

And there's bobbles in very large areas.

That's better! A little too much money and work than I
wanted but it is quite neat after all.

SLIGHTLY CREATIVE

Hi friends!
I've been slightly creative today...

Got two lots of red faux berry spring from my aunt, she thought
I could use them for hat making or something, and so I did...
This is a cherry brooch.

The pink chain is vintage and was found on Etsy for 75 cents
as some spare part ready to upcycle. And upcycle I did...
With some soft plastic flowers from the 50's/60's and some
spare metal chain I had laying around.

I personally think it turned out pretty darn cute.

IN FULL VIEW

So here's my finds from Monday's car boot sale...

Hand sewn 1960's gold lame brocade dress, £5.
I really love this dress. Pardon the creases, I'm too dizzy to be
trusted with an iron at the moment.

Gold clutch bag, 50 pence.
Not vintage but very useful.

Diana Dors biography, 10 pence.
I don't think many outside the UK (or even in the UK) knows who
Diana Dors was.
Diana was a famous English actress and had her peak in the 1950's
and 1960's and she was often called "the English Marilyn Monroe."
I should also add that my handsome man was an extra in the two-
part dramatisation The Blonde Bombshell: The Diana Dors Story.
You can watch the dramatisation in parts here
.

1960's lamp shade, £3.
I looove lamp shades made out of plastic ribbon.
This shade needed a lot of cleaning but it turned out great!
Got this from the same guy who sold me the Hawaiian fabrics and
the pink lamps in the bedroom on Saturday.

RIGHT NOW

I know you've seen a picture of my new lamp before,
but not lit. It's so pretty I just couldn't help but share
this with you. Cozy, huh?

VERTIGO

Hey friends.
I'm typing from bed today.
I got a new spell of Vertebrobasilar migraine and my
system is so run down that my mouth is full of really
painful ulcers and I can't eat proper food.
Don't worry, I did see my GP today and I got meds
for the Vertebrobasilar migraine, it will make me
sick and very tired for two weeks but I rather be out
of it for two weeks than a year of vertigo.
(I got the wrong diagnose last time so I suffered with
this vertigo shit for almost a year and a half.)

This means crafting and watching Twin Peaks I guess.
I got so many beautiful artificial flowers while we were
in Holland and now when I really can't do much else I
will have a go.

Talking about craft, here's some new earrings I made
while we were in Sweden...
