LATEST FINDS

It feels like ages since I posted about finds.
Maybe because it's not car boot sale season and the
charity shops have started to really price their stuff.
Anyway, here's some of my latest finds.

1950's/1960's black sequin top, £2.50.
I almost missed this top, I was occupied talking to a friend that
manages that particular charity shop and as I always do I had
a second look before I left and there it was!

Close up.

1950's/1960's pale mint sequin top, £7.50.
This is what I call a splurge. I would never ever pay this much for
a garment in a charity shop, ever, but this was in absolutely mint
and unused condition. Haven't decided if I'm gonna keep it or not.

Close up.

Vintage embroidered angora cardigan, £3.75.
A bit more than I would have liked to pay normally (you know
I'm cheap!) but a cardigan like this I just can't leave behind.

Close up.

Super cute gloves, £2.
My heart skipped a beat for these gloves, red and with a bow. *love*

Vintage Pyrex hostess set, £3.
Complete set! I just can't resist colorful Pyrex.

1950's shelf, £2.
I've got one in a smaller size and I can't wait to put them up on the wall!
This shelf wasn't supposed to be for sale, the manager of the charity shop
was quite nasty about it when I asked, funny how I went there a few weeks
later and there it was in a plastic box. This was meant to be.

1940's/1950's picnic bottle carrier, £1.50.
I guess this could also be used as a vase holder. :)

JACKPOT

OK, I must begin this post by warning you about an
insane amount of pictures.

I think we really hit the jackpot at two of our favorite
car boot sales during the weekend.
We woke up damn early both days without setting the
alarm so we decided to go after a cup of coffee.

This is just some of the things we dragged home...

SATURDAY

1960's case, 50 pence.
It's too small to be a suitcase and too big to be a vanity case, so
what do you call this then?
Anyway, this one is perfect for storage, I need it for my collection
of sunglasses.

1960's suitcase, 50 pence.
I've had a few of these Polynesian style suitcases on my favorite
list on Etsy but it was way too pricey and the shipping was out of
this world so you can understand that I was happy to snag this one.

Vintage huge knitted shawl, £1.
I promised myself to stop wearing my ugly
fleece robe in winter time so this will be the
replacement. It's really huge.

Knitted Scandinavian style cardigan, 50 pence.
I wanted this last year when I saw it at Primark but I
didn't feel like spending whatever it cost back then.
Awesome knitted stuff comes to she who wait. :))

Vintage sequin vest, 50 pence.
Another thing I've wanted for a while. :D

SUNDAY

Thierry Mugler Alien Perfume, £3.
Score! There's about 20 ml left but still a bargain since I don't
use it unless it's autumn and winter and a special occasion.

Vintage Bambi, 50 pence.
Another one to the collection.

1940's beaded purse, £1.
I've been sorting my collection of small handbags and purses because
I have way too many and what do I do? Yeah... I buy another one.

1950's handbag, 50 pence.
Did I really need this one? Don't know but it was 50 pence. :))

Reverse carved bangle, 50 pence.

Necklace, 50 pence.
I got one in bone color and I love it, I bet this one will
be well worn next spring and summer.

1950's knitting bag, 50 pence.

Vintage Pyrex dish, 50 pence.
Another thing we don't really need but couldn't resist.
My man love the pink shade. :))

1960's string and scissor wall holder, 50 pence.
I already have two string holding cats but how could
I resist this owl who looks like it got glasses on?

1950's little brush set, 20 pence.
Too pretty to resist!

1950's vanity case, £2.
My man got this for me, it's in unused condition but the white
plastic has started to go yellow. I still love it.

Vanity case inside.

1950's metal wicker handbag, £1.
I actually haggled it down to £1 from £1.50 and on the
inside I was jumping with joy.
I got a metal wicker handbag in a silver tone at Hemsby
for only £7 a few years back and I wanted one in gold
but these have gone quite pricey lately.
Too bad it doesn't show it's true gold tone.

Bag inside.

1960's jewelry box, 40 pence.
I always need these...

IT'S NOT ALL BAD

I've been having a crap morning.
I hate talking on the phone and I've been totally
freaking out over having to make a phone call
(but I did it after all) to speak about my referral
to the mental health unit because of my current
depression and my social phobia that just getting
worse and worse.
3 out of the 4 people I spoke to had accents that
I could hardly understand but I managed to get
that they are going to call me on Monday for an
evaluation over the phone. (?!?!)

The second thing was a rather obnoxious email
from my dad.
I've been trying to reach him for a month and I've
been quite desperate since we got back since I'm
in a bit of a pickle, all I get in return is "I'm not by
the computer everyday since my wife is having her
vacation now and today we're off to Ullared!"
(People only go to Ullared to buy cheap crap they
really don't need.)
Thanks a lot!

After crying out of frustration and a lot of hugs from
my man I managed to get myself together and plan
the day.

Because it's not all bad...
Here's why:

* Me and my man has been together for five and
a half year today.

* Mr. Postman came and turned my frown upside
down. The 1950's swimsuit/playsuit I won on eBay
the day before yesterday arrived and it's so cute!
The pattern looks like patchwork, a little like Sally
from Nightmare Before Christmas gone 50's pinup.

* After breakfast my man said we should make sure
we don't lose our tans so we went to the sunbed,
while I was waiting for him I went to my favorite
charity shop to have a little scout.
There it was - a coral Pyrex mixing bowl!

* I found something on Etsy that I've been wanting
for years and it had a quite reasonable price tag
so I asked my man if he could buy it for me for my
birthday and he was really surprised that I didn't
want anything else or something more expensive. :P

1950's swimsuit/playsuit, £12.77.

Vintage Pyrex bowl, £2.

I've been struggling with depression since I was 10-11
years old and it's only in recent years I'm actually trying
to see things a bit more colorful, that it's not all black and
white and I always keep that in mind even if everything is
shit, if I didn't I wouldn't be here by now.

YESTERDAY'S FINDS

Yesterday we got up early to go to the antique market
before opening the shop.
I was quite restless so I popped by Age UK to say hi to
my friend Flo and to go nuts rummaging through their
box of bangles. (Where I found 4.)
Afterwards I went to Halsey's Deli for a delicious egg n'
mayo sandwich (heaven) and then I scouted some of the
other charity shops in town.
After lunch all our volunteers came into the shop to say
goodbye and gossip. Better co-workers doesn't exist!

Today is the very last day before it turns into a normal
charity shop and it's also the last day for us, well, my
last day was yesterday but today is the last day for my
man. We're both happy not to work there anymore, let's
just say we weren't treated very well...

Anyway, here's what I managed to get my dirty paws on:

Boxed vintage Pyrex, 50 pence.
I’m super happy about this boxed, never used, Pyrex hostess
casserole with metal stand with a candle warmer.

Boxed vintage coffee maker, 50 pence.
This one is also never used. Don't know if it ever will be.

Set of 6 vintage mugs, 20 pence.
Nice and big and never used! They were in their original box
but it had mold
on it and that's nothing I want to keep.

18 part vintage atomic coffee set, £3.
This was a pure impulse buy, I think this might end up at the
Hemsby car boot sale next month.

Basket bag, £1.
Not that I need another bag but... Yeah.

Hardly ever worn Clarks, £3.
Super comfortable! These will go with most of my outfits fall/
winter/spring.

Bangle, 35 pence.

Bangle, 35 pence.

Bangle 35 pence.
This coconut bangle will be used frequently in Spain this year
along with my bamboo bangles.

Bangle, 35 pence.
You can't really tell it's carved with metal inlay.

THANKS HONEY!

My man is one heck of a guy!
On Friday he came home with a rather heavy box, it
was for me. Careful, he said...
I almost fainted, the box were full of Pyrex!
Gooseberry and (JAJ) Snowflake to be more specific.
To be honest, I think he's just as excited about Pyrex
as I am. :))

I really have to start looking for glass lids for all my
dishes now...

Oh! And don't miss this Pyrex site!

FINDS, FINDS FINDS!

WOW! Guess who finally had time and peace of mind
to blog about some recent and not so recent finds.
I haven't done this in a while so therefore plenty of pics.
I will try and post my latest clothing finds soon too!

This bunch are from the Friday antique market and a
few local charity shops.

Click on the images for a better view.

Trinket boxes 10 pence and 75 pence.
I'm always in need of cute trinket boxes, I got no more room on
my vanity nowadays so I have to drill up a shelf
this weekend.

Old doll, 25 pence.
She looks so 1930's in her cute little outfit! :)
I'm on the hunt for another shadow box to put her in.

Bangles, 50 pence each.
I'm a bangleholic, I just can't say no, there's always an
outfit that requires at least one of these. :))

1960's jewellery box, £3.99.
A bit more than I usually spend but this one was roomy
and the brocade sure hit the spot!

Old Bambi vase, £1.
He had a glued leg but who cares, he's SO cute!

A bunch of 1950's plastic tulips, 25 pence.
Something else I already got plenty of but not in this color.
Hey, nothing says spring as well as tulips, plastic or not.

Old hat, £3.
I should give this one a good clean and change the ribbon, I'm not
so keen on the mustard color to be honest. Love the berries tho!

1950's jewellery set in original box, 25 pence.
I can't resist stuff in their original box!
This set looks like it's never been used.

Pyrex Gaiety Snowflake dishes, £1 for the set.
I do need a lid for the round one, might find one at work.

JAJ Pyrex June Rose dishes, £1.75 for the set.
It's so frustrating when they don't come with a lid but for that price
I'm not just gonna leave them for someone
else to snag. :P

Vintage tins, £5 for the set.
A must for my hobby room!

Cute vintage bottle, £1.
I were thinking "future kid's room" for some reason...

Vintage repro ashtray, 25 pence.
These were a copy of the 1950's atomic ashtrays and they were
reproduced in the 1980's.

1950's jug/vase, £3.
Me and my fella love music themed stuff and I got this as a
Valentines gift for us. Might sound dumb but so be it. :))

1950's glasses, £1 for the set.
I can't count how many times I said "no more glasses" but I never
really listen to myself when I see something
nice like these.
