PASSOVER

Tonight it's the Seder night.
Passover (also known as Pesach) is a Jewish holy day
and festival commemorating G*d sparing the Hebrews
when he killed the first born of Egypt, and is the seven
day feast of the unleavened bread (made without yeast,
we eat Matzo instead) commemorating the Exodus from
Egypt and the liberation of the Israelites from slavery.

I've done the ritual cleaning in the kitchen, no risen bread
or breadcrumbs are allowed during Passover.
Before sundown I need to set the table and prepare the
Seder plate (ours is vegetarian) and the feast for tonight.
I love the Seder night, my mans favorite part is the many
glasses of wine, I drink grape juice instead.

Matzo.

Chag sameach!

I'm celebrating here in England this year, going to my third cousins for both Seder nights. I'm really looking forward to the food we're gonna get :)
Have a wonderful Pesach!

Fröken Lila: Thanks dear.

A Red Lipstick: That must be so nice to have relatives you can got to even though you're not home.
I envy you. I used to celebrate with my Jewish friends when I lived in Stockholm.
It's only gonna be me and my man this year, more wine for him. :))
Do your relatives make typical Jewish food like Latkes and such?

Heather: Thanks sugar!

Happy holidays Rascal! I studied Judaism at school and have forgotten most of it so this is very interesting to read. I'm curious, were you and your man both Jewish, or did one of you convert when you got together?

Miss Wink: Thanks sweetie!

Fleur de Guerre: We're both Jewish.
He found me on MySpace on a group called "Jews with tattoos". :))
(We're not allowed to have tattoos, therefore the group.)

I agree with Fleur de Guerre, it's interesting to learn about your traditions. :)

Yes, my relatives make Jewish food, we had vegetable soup with Kneidlach for starter :)
Is this your first Seder with your man? How long have you been living in England for?
