WELL DESERVED BREAK

Hi girls!
My dad and stepmother is here but I'm taking a
well deserved break from translating and shopping.
Today we went to a market and I found some vintage
sailor things that I will put up on Tradera as soon as
I have a few minutes for myself.

Here's some the finds from Sundays car boot sale.
Everything is vintage, of course.

SATURDAY FINDS

Hello ladies!
We went to two car boot sales this morning.
Got some really neat things!
I haven't pictures of them all, I got some stuff that
I'm putting up for sale tomorrow and we got a 50's
tray that was ugly but I'm gonna revamp it, it cost
us 50 pence and we got a really nice 50's ceiling
light for only 20 pence.

My favorite find of the day must be the two black
cats, the are perfume bottle holders that was made
in the 1950's, unfortunately the bottles is missing
but they are in a very good condition and cost me
£2 each.

I'm also happy about the toilet roll cozy in shape
of a Poodle, I just added a polka dot bow around
his neck.

Perfume bottle holders, £4, $8, 50 Kr.

Toilet roll Poodle, £0.10, $0.20, 1.20 Kr.

Vintage purse, £0.20, $0.40, 2.50 Kr.

TIGER LILY

I've been a good girl today and added my latest creations
on both MySpace and deviantART.
I might even put up some of the newly made hair-flowers
on Tradera on Sunday, that's my last chance since my dad
and my stepmother is coming over on Monday.
I haven't seen my dad for about 3 years so I will try and
make the most of the days that he's here.

Here's two of the new hair-flowers I added today:

I'VE GOT A BROKEN HEART

This is Maddie.
She's the girl of my dreams, she looks so much like Pixi,
the Bull Terrier I used to have when I was living in Sweden.
Maddie is up for adoption and I want nothing more than to
be her new mommy.
Thing is, I can't because we have plans in September and it
wouldn't be fair if we put her in a kennel while we're away.
It really breaks my heart.
I said to my man that I wish I had a very close friend or that
my dad was living over here so he could look after her, I know
he would, he loved Pixi very much and I know he would find
a special place in his heart for Maddie too.

Oh, gosh, I'm gonna start crying any minute now...
Our plans is breaking my heart.

TYPICAL

Isn't it typical that when I feel like most creative the sun is
shining like never ever before.
We have had three nice days is a row now and I really want
to make the most of it while I can.
Thing is, I really want to make more of those 1940's tops
with matching shorts.
I also have tons of new hair flowers I want to finish...

Let's stop the rant and start the morning with a little dance
by the beautiful Ann Pennington and Felix the Cat.

Song of the morning:
Count Basie - "Jumping At The Woodside"

MY HEART GOES PITTER PATTER

I bet you're getting utterly bored with all my finds. *smirk*
I got two new pairs of shoes today, on sale, I couldn't resist.
They cost me £7, $14, 85 Kr for each pair.

LUXURIOUS PROBLEMS

I'm a bit bored but I can't decide whether I'm gonna
read or sew another 1940's top in the pink gingham
fabric I've purchased yesterday...

If you're as borded as me and need some awesome
songs added to your plalist here's some good ones:
Clyde McPhatter - "Deep Sea Ball"
Ruth Brown - "Mama, He Treats Your Daughter Mean"
The Carnations - "Long Tall Girl"
Don French - "Little Blond Girl"
Carl McVoy - "Tootise"
Kenny Owen - "I Got The Bug"

I'M REALLY FED UP!

I'm absolutely disgusted by Tradera.
Last month I had trouble paying my bills, their account
wouldn't receive my money, finally it worked but the
newest bill suddenly disappeared and I thought maybe
they removed it in a gesture of good will, not bloody
likely, it turned up a couple of days ago!
I payed as soon as I saw it but it wasn't fast enough, now
I'm shut down for a couple of days and they want 50 kr
for late payment. Up theirs!
I'm fed up, this is the second month I'm shut off and it's
not even my fault.
What will my customers think?
They can see that I have good feedback and all but still...

Me and my man might look into selling details for Etsy
tonight, I want to start as soon as possible.
I'm not giving Tradera a penny more, that's for sure.
I've been selling stuff on Tradera since 2003 and I had
tons of problems with their customer service.
I have had death threats from some users, because I'm
Jewish, and when I contacted Tradera and said that these
users should be shut down because of these emails they
said that I should go to the police, that they couldn't do
anything about it. WTF?!
The people that sent me death threats is still using their
accounts.
Some of the guys that started Tradera back in the days
were actually Jewish but they sold their shares, I wonder
if it would have been a different story if they wouldn't have
done that.

Me and my man went to a car boot sale today as well.
We found tons of clothes and cool stuff.
The only garments I kept for myself was a leopard

LAUGH OR CRY?

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
Let's start with the bad news.
I went to the ear doctor today and he said that I need hearing aid.
I have terrible hearing and a childhood full of ear infections so it
wasn't really a surprise.

Now to the good news.
I was a bit bored so I decided to check my messages on deviantART,
usually I have about 15 messages a week but this time I really got a
shock, 629 new messages in one week!!!
Out of these 629 messages I got comments from other deviants and
I also ended up being everyones favorite because of my work.
My red gingham top won the Daily Deviation on July 13.
Now that's an ego boost I will live on for a long time.

LITTLE RASCAL IS BACK!

I'm so tired, it feels like jet lag but it can't be since it's
only 1 hour time difference between England and Sweden.

We did lots of bargains in various charity shops such as
Stadsmissionen and Myrorna.
I also got tons of vintage clothes and things from the friend
we were staying at and a dear friend in the antique business.
(I don't know if I have energy right now to post pictures of
some of the stuff, maybe after the weekend.)

We had a great time at my favorite restaurant Hermans,
we ate there on two occasions, the food was delicious as
always and the view is spectacular.
The last night we stayed there for 6 hours!!!
There was a BBQ, my lovely friend Astrid came to see me
and there was a pretty good jazz band playing.
AND we saw a lady with a real beard!
I doubt anything can beat that evening.

Over all it was nice, except for my cat allergy, my mans
sudden and very painful Gout, the idiot that called me a
whore and picked a fight with my man.
I almost forgot to mention the rockabilly band we saw
and walked out on after only four songs. Enough said...

One of my favorite old neon signs in Stockholm.
(It's much cooler at night though.)

View from Hermans.

A funny sign at the Signspotting exhibition.

Now I got tons of reading up to do on my favorite blogs.

COME FIND ME

I'm gonna start packing for Stockholm in a minute.
I just want to inform you that I will be at Debaser Slussen
July 16 around 8 PM to see what the fuzz is about with the
club Kookie Little Paradise.
I hope to sell a small selection of hair-flowers and rats for
very good prices but you have to come find me and my big
hair (and beautiful man) first.
If you don't want to buy anything, feel free to say hi, it's
always nice to see a friendly face.
You all should know what I look like by now. *smirk*

I'm gonna leave you with these pictures of my 1940's sun
tops I made some weeks ago...

Please don't mind my ink, work in progress and the roses
won't be there for much longer.

Ta-ta!

HAPPY FEET

I got lucky today.
The pair of red and off-white wingtip heels that I've wanted
for so long were finally on sale!
I also purchased a pair of cute ballet flats.

Red and off-white wingtips heels £7.

Cute candy striped ballet flats £3.

MY NEW CROCKERY SET

On Sunday I helped my "brother in law" to clean his
newly decorated apartment and while I was cleaning
the kitchen my guy and I found this crockery set!
Since my brother in law is not into the 1950's at all
he gave it to me as a "thank you".
I've tried to do some research but can't find anything
useful about this crockery set, all I know is that it's
from Staffordshire Potteries and it's called "Berkley".
I want to at least know the year it was made...

We decided to keep our eyes open every time we're
in a charity shop or car boot sale because we really
want bowls from the same set.

We didn't really need another crockery set since we now
have four sets, three from the 1950's - 1960's and one new
but very retro looking from IKEA.

LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR

I'm gonna try not to be too nostalgic and sound like I'm
way older than I am but most of you were still in preschool
and might not have a clue what I'm on about.
Back in 1993 Swedish television aired the fantastic English
drama series Lipstick on Your Collar.

During the Suez Crisis of 1956, two young clerks at the
stuffy Foreign Office in Whitehall display little interest
in the decline of the British Empire.
To their eyes, it can hardly compete with girls, rock music
and the intrigue of romantic entanglements...

It's pretty funny that little ol' me ended up with a guy that
was an extra in several scenes in my favorite TV-series of
all times.
Yes, my guy is popping up every now and then the whole
series through, I could only find one episode on YouTube
that he's in.
In this one he's walking through the door right behind the
singer, 12 - 15 seconds into the clip below.

WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH A DRUNKEN SAILOR?

We went to a local car boot sale this morning.
We didn't think it would be on since it's been raining,
but the sun came out from the clouds and we jumped
into our new cool car and went off in a speed.

It wasn't many sellers there at all but we managed to
get the Godfather trilogy on VHS for 50 pence and a
1950's table for £2 and this wonderful sailor bottle
from 1933 for £2.50.
He goes perfect with our 1950's boat bar.

Then we went to an antique shop we passed by bus
last week, they had so many cool things for really
wonderful prizes.
My darling ended up buying me this pretty 1950's
plastic wicker sewing box for only £6.50.
( I collect them. No surprise, huh?)
It was hard work cleaning in but it turned out to
be very nice and clean in the end.

We're going out tonight, first we're gonna go to a
vintage car show and then later on go to a gig.

Tune of the evening:
The Jiants - "Tornado"

WICKER BAG - BEFORE & AFTER

My passion is to revamp things.
To make a cool thing even more cool.
Like this small wicker bag I finished today.
I haven't done much to it, sometimes it's
best not to overdo it.
I removed the horrible clasps (not pictured)
and made my own, then I added two flowers
on the outside and leopard printed felt on the
inside for a more exotic touch.

What to you think?

I CAN'T WAIT!

I can't wait to get our new car today!
We had a look at it on Sunday just gone and decided that
we really really wanted it.
It's a red metallic modern hot rod with cool custom parts.
We have talked about a 50's car but we can't find a garage
and we both wanted something really cool that suit our
style and that's for everyday use so our new toy is perfect!

We gonna pick her up this afternoon and then maybe go to
Ace Cafe for the hot rod night.
I might even bring some hair-flowers to sell.

Song of the day: Ritchie Deran - "Girl and a hot rod"

SO THIS IS WHAT ELLE CALL ROCKABILLY?!

I really can't stand when people talk/write about
something they obviously don't have the slightest
clue about but they think they do.
Like yesterday, I was sitting in the waiting room
at my surgery and picked up the May issue of ELLE.
And there it was... A page with rockabilly clothes
and accessories.
There's nothing rockabilly about it!
All I can see is fuggin' 1980's neon punk crap!
No billy in her right mind would wear yellow ankle
platform boots or anything else on that page.
Who the hell lost their head and picked that crap
together and decided to call it rockabilly?!
ELLE should know what they're talking about, right?
Sorry for the rant but I can't stand ignorant people,
it really grinds my gear.
OK, it's supposed to be so called "inspirational" but
it's still not rockabilly.
Personally I think I could have done a far better job.
Who ever did it should get sacked.

OK, kudos for the black high waist cigarette pant
but that's about it.
